About

Set along the rural edge of Lafayette, this community is designed to reflect the indigenous barn and farmhouse vernacular of its context.

Design

The architecture was inspired by the rural context of barns and farm houses with the use of iconic materials and elements of those building types, such as corrugated metal, board and batten siding, and roof vent “chimneys”. Floor plans implement offset floor elevations to create distinct spaces, some with tall ceilings, some more intimate. The units are designed to be very energy efficient and offer high indoor air quality through the use of “green” materials (such as blown cellulose insulation and energy star testing for leak proof ducting). Generous landscaping and open space create a setting true to the “Hedgerow” namesake.
