About

This award-winning project was a renovation of the former San Diego Savings & Trust Building into a boutique hotel, with 245 keys and 120 restaurant seats.

In 1998, Sage Hospitality committed to a rebirth of the old building and transformed it into the Marriott Courtyard Hotel. At that time, the building was a vacant office building.

The hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and received a 20% Federal Historic Tax Credit.

Design

This project is a strong example of successful historic renovation with a willing client, a dedicated design team and a general contractor that can deliver a project with a sense of place that would be difficult, if not impossible, to replicate today. It was truly an honor to contribute to the historic fabric of this landmark property. The breathtaking lobby was given new life in the hotel conversion. The intricate vault and safety deposit box room were adapted into an incredible meeting space that leverages the guest experience to an exceptional level.
