The Perry Hotel Key West opens later this month on Stock Island in Florida. JOHNSON NATHAN STROHE served as the Interior Designer of Record for the 100 guestrooms and extensive public spaces.
Named for Commodore Perry, the first to lay claim to Key West, our design draws inspiration from the working marina, nearby boat repair shop and residing old shrimp boats.
Embracing the nostalgia of Stock Island’s maritime past, JOHNSON NATHAN STROHE’s design includes elements such as a propeller collection in the lobby that stretches towards the ceiling and custom reclaimed wood tables. Exposed concrete columns, a mix of concrete and reclaimed teak flooring, and a feature board form concrete wall all speak to materials typically seen on the island. Design for the two on-site restaurants captures the laid-back vibes of long summer days spent out on the water.
The classic look of the public spaces carries over into the guestroom design, featuring rustic touches such as reclaimed materials and wood-paneled headboards, and flooring reminiscent of sand, seashells and driftwood.
