Art Studios Takes Home Gold in Downtown Denver Awards
As adaptive reuse of underutilized office space continues to become a priority in cities nationwide, JNS is thrilled to share our work to transform a vacant commercial building at 1200 Lincoln St. in Denver into the bustling residential community known as Art Studios has been named a Downtown Denver Award winner.
Our architecture team set out to honor the building's rich history as the Art Institute of Colorado while seamlessly infusing modernity and functionality. The architectural style of the 192-unit building pays homage to its modernist roots, boasting clean lines and a simplistic approach to finishes. Light wood tones and a clean color palette serve as the backdrop for sixties-inspired design elements, creating a harmonious blend of past and present.
The design of Art Studios intentionally provides residents not only a place to live, but a lifestyle enriched by the surrounding Golden Triangle neighborhood. With its innovative microunits and unique common space amenities, Art Studios fosters a sense of belonging and connectivity among its residents.
We are honored to be recognized as a contributor to Downtown Denver’s social, economic and cultural vibrance. Projects like Art Studios Lofts exemplify the power and the opportunity of adaptive reuse in our center city, offering a glimpse into how neglected spaces can be revitalized into thriving hubs of activity. We offer our thanks to the Downtown Denver Partnership, to the panel of judges this year and to our partners on this project. We look forward to leading more of these forward-thinking adaptive reuse projects in our downtown core!
