JUNTO TAKES SHAPE IN COLUMBUS
Construction is progressing at the Junto hotel in Columbus, Ohio, and we’re eager to see the work continue to revive its historic Franklinton neighborhood. Locally known as “the bottoms,” a nod to its history of flooding events, Franklinton largely consists of surface parking lots and single-story industrial buildings. But that’s about to change!
Junto has been framed up to level six (of eight), and brick is already being installed on levels one to four. The neighborhood is flanked by historic railroad tracks to the west and the Center of Science of Industry (CoSI) to the east. Junto is at the heart of a mixed-use master plan development covering nine blocks and surrounded by residences, retail, offices and parking. To preserve the unique character of Franklinton, our design story for Junto is dominated by the neighborhood’s spirit and agricultural riverside roots.
Much of the design of the multi-tiered, scaled structure is oriented around sunrise and sunset views that span the city, the Scioto River and the distant plains. Upon completion in late 2022 or early 2023, Junto will include ground-floor boutiques and eateries, a hotel lobby bar, a rooftop restaurant and bar, a glassy second story ballroom and beautiful individual suites and penthouse apartments.
