WELCOME TO THE MAE ON CASCADE

JNS recently celebrated the completion of the Mae on Cascade, a striking new multifamily project in the shadow of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. 

Named for Fannie Mae Duncan, the Mae takes inspiration from its namesake while also paying tribute to her social work. Fannie Mae was a jazz musician and owner of the famed Cotton Club in Colorado Springs in the 1950s. She welcomed anyone into her club that was age 21 or older, regardless of race – a rarity in that time. 

Fannie Mae was also a tremendous philanthropist, funding college tuitions and co-founding the 400 Club and Sickle Cell Anemia Association in Colorado Springs. She also organized major fundraisers to support medical research and served on many charitable committees. Colorado Springs honors her annually with an “Everybody Welcome” festival, echoing the sign she kept in the window of the Cotton Club.

We were proud to provide the interior design services for this project, incorporating a timeless, relaxed style with subtle accents evoking the spirit of an old jazz club. The property’s interior amenities include a lobby that doubles as a co-working space, a west-facing clubhouse wrapped in windows and a large fitness room with an attached yoga studio.

The 184-unit building is five stories with a rooftop deck offering spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains and downtown Colorado Springs. On the second level, residents have access to a courtyard with a large pool and hot tub as well as a gaming lawn and fire pit areas.
