OCEANSIDE VIBES

Inspiration abounds at the Oceanside Springhill Suites in Oceanside, California, the latest hotel renovation by JNS. Located just one block from the Pacific Ocean, the hotel is serving up coastal vibes with updated finishes and fixtures that create an upscale and welcoming atmosphere for guests.

We originally designed the five-story hotel in 2014 and are nearly complete on a refresh of the property as part of Marriott’s strategy to renovate its hotels every seven years. Along with incorporating personalized touches throughout the hotel, the board house’s exterior wall draws the eye and sparks conversation thanks to a mural by local artist Michaela Sanderson. We are especially excited about the mural because it aligns with the programming of the space, providing guests with surfboards, games, boogie boards and more.

Sanderson sought to create a piece that was playful, colorful and unexpected, allowing the viewer to imagine the scenario behind a jellyfish obtaining a surfboard. With the jellyfish swirling under the sea, the mural brings vivid imagery to the hotel, providing a dramatic backdrop to one of several outdoor seating areas. The mural is just one of the many upgrades to the property that seek to reflect local culture and flair.

Working closely with hotel ownership, the Oceanside Springhill operations team, as well as art consultants NINE dot ARTS, we created a completely unique look and feel that ensures a new experience for guests while providing them with all the comforts of home.

Performing renovations like these gives hotels an opportunity to set themselves apart through custom design solutions that not only cater specifically to the functional needs of the hotel but also create an aesthetic fitting of the property and the neighborhood.

We specialize in these customized hotel designs, having worked on some of the most distinguished hotels in downtown Denver in the last two decades, including the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Union Station, The Crawford Hotel and The Maven Hotel.
