PHOTOS: THE SHERATON HOTEL RENOVATION
At JNS, we are proud to create beautiful spaces that truly contribute to the fabric of the community. The newly renovated Sheraton Hotel provides an anchor at the east end of the 16th Street Mall, bringing renewed energy and activation to the area.
JNS was proud to serve as the architect and designer on public spaces and porte cochère for this project, which began welcoming visitors earlier this year. Our design intention embraces the history of the iconic building – originally designed by renowned architect I.M. Pei – and also creates a modern space that people can enjoy today.
Incorporating elements of Pei’s original modern architecture, the design references the beatnik movement of the 1950s and ‘60s. The design of the plaza lobby evokes the spirit of the traveler with canvas, leather and darkened metal finishes. A new fireplace in the lobby references Pei’s original tower design, featuring a plaster imprint of the historic ceiling tiles that remain on the tower’s second level.
We are so excited to share what the final product looks like with this brand-new photography from David Lauer. Take a look below.
